    VISION  
    At the end of nine (9) years of continuous education, every child that passes through the system should acquire appropriate levels of literacy, numeracy, communication, manipulative and life skills and be employable, useful to himself and the society at large by possessing relevant ethical, moral and civic values  

    MISSION

    To serve as a prime energizer for the actualization of the State’s Universal Basic Education (UBE) vision, working in concert and creating synergy with all stakeholders, thus mobilizing the States’ creative energies to ensure that Education for ALL becomes the Responsibility of All.   RESPONSIBILITIES To realize its vision and Mission Statement the Board is charged with the following responsibilities. a.                  Managing Primary and Junior Secondary education in the State. b.                  Recruitment, appointment, promotion and discipline staff of the Board. c.                  Posting and deployment of staff including those on inter- state transfer. d.                 Disbursement of funds provided to it by the Local, State and Federal Government to vital areas of need in the education sector (Primary and Junior Secondary). e.                  Performing effective supervision and inspection of schools through the Department of Quality Assurance, otherwise called, Monitoring and Evaluation. f.                   Collaboration with the State Ministry of Education for the establishment of new Primary/Junior Secondary Schools. g.                  Training and retraining of teachers in both Primary and Junior Secondary Schools, through capacity building workshops. h.                  Execution of meaningful projects that will make education accessible and affordable to all school-age Nigerian children resident in Plateau State.   INTRODUCTION The State Universal Basic Education Board was established following the passing into law a bill captioned, “The Universal Basic Laws 2005”, which came into operation on the 27th day of June 2005. Pursuant to this law, the Board, which was then called “Plateau State Universal Basic Education Board”, will be responsible for the management of (Basic Education) in the State. To successfully accomplish its statutory responsibility by law, the Plateau State Universal Basic Education Board consists of the following members namely: 1.                    A full time Chairman, who is the Chief Executive and Accounting Officer of the Board. 2.                    Two full time members who shall be of impeccable character and of professional calling 3.                    Three ex-officio members, and       4.          One representative of each of the following a.       Parents Teachers Union in the State b.      NUT, State Wing c.       State Women Group d.      Federal Ministry of Education, Inspectorate Division in the State. e.       State Ministry of Education f.       Chairman of Conference of Principals in the State.
