Created in 1976, Wase Local Government area is located at about 216 kilometres from Jos, with its headquarters in Wase town. It covers a land area of about 4,306 square kilometres. The area maintains a population of 103,997 persons based on the 1991 Census figures. The Local Government is made up of four districts namely, Wase, Lunba, Bashar and Kadarko. Among the major ethnic groups in the area are fulani, Jukun, Basharawa, ,Tarok Taraba and Burum.
