Langtang South Local Government was created on August 21, 1991 and was one of the only three re- settlement areas that were established for the resettlement of second World War Veterans in 1948. The Local Government Area has 10 electoral wards with Mabudi as its headquarters. It has an area of 1,250 square kilometers with a population of 48,000 people by the 199 I Census figures. The linguistic groups that inhabit this Local Government Area are the Tarok, Angas, Kwallah, Youm, Montol, Geomai Mwaghavul, and some pockets of other tribes in Nigeria.
